FAQ’s

  • People’s attitudes towards and personal definitions of feminism are always different, so here at POW Thanet we follow feminism’s principles of equality, justice, solidarity and transparency.

Across all our work from events to education, right through to our marketing and fundraising, we challenge gender norms, power imbalances, continue to educate ourselves and ask our partners, sponsors, funders and advertisers on their equality policies before we engage with them.

  • About 95% of our events are open to all genders. On occasion some events are just for women and non-binary people. We have also run men-only and trans-only events.

Sometimes it is essential that participants feel safe and able to explore themes and needs specific to their experiences.

  • Being the only gender-equality charity in Thanet, we want to make it ✨ crystal clear ✨ that we stand in solidarity with trans and non-binary people. Your gender identity is your own, it can evolve, and it is not determined for you, but by you.

We want to achieve gender equality in Thanet and beyond, which means equal rights for everyone, and yes, trans rights are human rights.

  • We know that men are also persecuted for many different reasons and also suffer under patriarchy. Have you seen how high suicide and addiction rates in men are? The fight for gender equality not only improves the lives of women and girls, but everyone else too.

If you identify as a man and would like to meet up and chat about your experiences, then our friends at Manspace can help you out.

How can men get involved in POW?

We want you to get involved! Come to our events, volunteer with us, share our cause, educate yourselves and help shape a future where everyone is equal & free.
