Power of Women Youth Arts Trail

As part of the POW Youth Arts Trail, Power of Women worked in partnership with two students from Open School East Young Artist’s Programme to create an art trail running through Margate and Ramsgate as part of our 2022 festival.  There was a further collaboration with The Zone and Pavilion, Broadstairs who curated the Broadstairs under 16’s leg of the trail.

The two students who were involved conceived, curated, organised, promoted and executed POW’s Art Trail, supported by POW’s Engagement Coordinator Susan Crothers.

The students invited and inspired their fellow OSE students to create works for the trail, which respond to our 2022 theme, ‘Reclaim and Reconnect’.

There were a total of 18 young artists’ work exhibited in Ramsgate and Margate. The works were installed and displayed in shops and businesses in 3 Ramsgate locations and 12 Margate locations. To gather the work, the students put out an open call brief for young people in Thanet to submit work. They incorporated Power of Women’s youth photography competition, ‘Honouring Lana’, as part of the trail.

The under 16s Youth Arts Trail curated by the The Pavilion/ Zone Youth Group involved 40 young people and 14 shops and businesses in Broadstairs.
