Music, song writing and costume making workshops for young people

Join performance poet and artist Brigitte Aphrodite for a workshop learning song writing, creative playtime and collective skill building for the revolution! No experience necessary.

Choose from two exciting workshops:

The Parakeet Experience - image square.jpg

1:30pm - 2:30pm
A song / poetry / lyric writing workshop with Brigitte Aphrodite and Quite Boy. Bash stage fright and shout - or whisper - about your passions, hopes and fears. Whether you are a fully fledged music maker, or you just have an interest in making some noise, join us for a joyful, creative hour. There will be an opportunity to perform in the evening performance, for those that want to.

2:30pm - 4:30pm
Be part of the Parakeet Experience, in this props and costume making workshop. We'll be making hats, birds and protest banners, featuring your hopes, dreams, slogans and provocations. The final results will be worn and exhibited in the evening performance, should you like them to be.

Both of the workshops are FREE, please book a ticket to reserve a space. Please make sure to book the correct time for the workshop you’d like to attend.

Misled Torpedo – A WORKSHOP BRUNCH EXPLORING THE LEGACY OF HEDY LAMARR

Hedy lamarr.jpg

Few people know that the Hollywood star and beauty, Hedy Lamarr, “the Angelina Jolie of her day,” was also an avid inventor and the person behind the advances in communication technology in the 1940s that led to today’s Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.

As part of the series of Hedy Lamarr events, this workshop explores how traditional attitudes on what was expected of women means that, even today, we know little of her off-screen achievements, and asks how much has changed for women in the last 70 years.

This workshop accompanies an exhibition and screenings of her films.

Tickets WORKSHOP & BRUNCH £10
