Cllr Karen Constantine was invited to Kurdistan, in September 2017 as part of the WK referendum monitoring team which helps to ensure a free and fair election process. Karen visited Erbil the capital, and Barderash during the referendum and became concerned about Kurdish people, refugees and the Yazidees who have been subjected to extreme persecution. Karen's talk, with short films and photographs, will help you to gain some understanding of the country's complex politics, the value of democracy and how women's and girls' rights are vulnerable and need protection.
